Fancy Grilled Cheese // BBQ Mac and Cheese

Barbecue and Mac n Cheese Grilled Cheese Sandwich

We first experienced this BBQ – macaroni and cheese – grilled cheese sandwich at Fort Worth’s food truck park. The combination of macaroni and cheese with barbecue is amazing. Granted, you wouldn’t want to eat these every day but, if you’re ready to splurge, it’s a great treat that you can easily make at home!

  • french bread
  • barbecue meat
  • macaroni and cheese
  • cheddar cheese
  • butter

Make macaroni and cheese, I simply cooked pasta and added velveeta cheese (don’t add milk, you don’t want the cheese to be too runny). Heat up barbecue meat. You can find my recipe for brisket barbecue here, if you have the time, you should definitely make homemade barbecue. Slice bread, layer on cheddar, barbecue meat and macaroni. Butter the outside of your sandwich.

My panini press really helped keep these hefty ingredients from spilling out of the sandwich. A skillet would work as well, press sandwich with a spatula to compact sandwich filling. Toast sandwich on both sides. Enjoy!

  1. Aw yum, my husband would love this grilled cheese!! Haha… he is a mac and cheese fiend, whereas I didn’t grow up with it (I know! What’s wrong with my mother!?) so it’s not that special to me. Love the idea of inventing new and special grilled cheese recipes though. I like cracking an egg in mine, then cooking it in a jaffle iron. The egg gets all crispy on the outside but nice and gooey soft in the middle. Yum. Love your blog x

    1. That sounds really good! Sandwiches are such an easy meal for summer, I love planning different ingredient combinations to keep it interesting. Thanks for reading!

  2. I love your fancy grilled cheese series. I’ve never done macaroni on a sandwich, but I’ve seen it a few times before. I think I’ll finally have to give it a try. =]

Also, I’m bestowing you with a Leibster Award on my blog!
