Today’s project isn’t for eating, even though it smells exactly like cookie dough!!! Coconut oil is a beauty “secret” that’s all over the place right now, so I decided to give it a try in this sugar body scrub. It feels exactly like olive oil, so you can use that if you don’t have coconut oil (though olive oil will give this scrub a slightly different scent). The shredded coconut adds extra texture to this scrub but I was a little bit disappointed that the coconut didn’t add much of a scent (and coconut oil doesn’t really have a scent to it)… so I decided to cut coconut from this scrub’s name. It’s an optional ingredient, you decide!

Cookie Dough Sugar Scrub
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 – 1/3 cup coconut oil
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/3 cup shredded coconut (optional)
Toss all ingredients into a food processor and blend until coconut has been cut into tiny pieces. If you leave out the shredded coconut, just mix all ingredients together in a bowl!
Store body scrub in an airtight container. This scrub is perfect for softening hands and feet, or mix a little of it into your body wash!
Ooh, I can only imagine how this must smell! Will have to try it out sometime. Stopping by from Ladies Only Blog Share.
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you do give it a try, it really couldn’t be simpler!
Does this go bad? or can you make it and store it as long as its in the appropriate container?
I’ve never had a problem with homemade sugar and coconut oil scrubs spoiling, even though it’s sometimes a month or more before I use up the batch.
I do recommend storing it in a small airtight container and making sure that water doesn’t get into it. Some people store homemade scrubs in the refrigerator, though I haven’t found that to be necessary.
