Champagne Salad Frozen Dessert

This recipe was one of my great grandma’s specialties. Champagne Salad was one of the desserts that Granny always made for holidays, it was my favorite! Last Christmas I made these Tea Towels using Granny’s handwritten recipe card for this dessert. After featuring the DIY on the blog, several people asked me about the recipe and I knew that it was one that I wanted to make and share here. This frozen dessert is creamy and full of fruit, it’s perfect for summer (especially if you don’t have an ice cream maker). Make a batch of this dessert, slice it up, then … Continue reading Champagne Salad Frozen Dessert

No-Bake Banana Split Dessert

I’ve had my eye on these mini graham cracker crusts for a while now, waiting for the perfect occasion to use them! I finally bought them to use for these mini desserts for Mother’s Day. This Banana Split Dessert recipe has been a favorite in my family for a while now. It’s a rich and refreshing dessert that has a creamy cheesecake layer topped with fresh fruit. And this is a quick recipe, no baking required. Perfect for Summer! My one complaint about these mini crusts is their package count. They come in counts of 6 and I found that … Continue reading No-Bake Banana Split Dessert

Cranberry Bliss Bars

It’s that time of the year again, time for baking and taking all kinds of sweets to Christmas gatherings! If you’re still searching for a holiday dessert recipe, try these Cranberry Bliss Bars: blondies with the addition of white chocolate chips and tart dried cranberries, iced with cream cheese frosting. I love how festive the colors in this dessert are, it’s perfect for sharing! If you hadn’t already guessed, this is a copycat recipe for Starbucks’ Cranberry Bliss Bars. Recipe was slightly altered from here. Cranberry Bliss Bars 1/2 cup butter  1 large egg 1 cup light brown sugar (packed) … Continue reading Cranberry Bliss Bars

Gorilla Bread

Gorilla Bread is pretty similar to monkey bread, but each pull-apart piece is filled with a special ingredient… cream cheese! This delicious pastry has a caramelized cinnamon/sugar outside with a soft cream cheese center. It’s a simple recipe that takes only about 10 minutes to put together, making it a great Christmas morning breakfast (or after-dinner treat)! Note: I made half of this recipe and placed it into a large loaf pan. Use two loaf pans or a bundt pan if making the whole recipe. This is an adaption of Paula Deen’s recipe. Gorilla Bread             … Continue reading Gorilla Bread

Homemade Alfredo Sauce

It’s National Pasta Day and, while this was not planned in coordination with the holiday, I do have the perfect pasta sauce for you! This was actually my first attempt at making Alfredo sauce. While it did take more time than popping open a jar of sauce, it was easy and worth the extra time. This sauce tastes even better than restaurant Alfredo sauce! When searching for the perfect Alfredo sauce recipe to try, I found that many recipes are fairly similar. I gathered up a variety of ingredients and decided to create my own version. Try this rich and creamy … Continue reading Homemade Alfredo Sauce

Cream Cheese Pumpkin Bread

Fall is coming! I am absolutely in love with this season! I’ve already been overwhelming my husband with Autumn candle scents, and talk of pumpkins and Fall decor. I can hardly wait for cooler and cozy weather after the nearly unbearable Texas summer heat. In fact, the first couple of days of September were some of our hottest yet this year. In spite of the 105º+ temperatures, I turned on the oven and heated up the house in order to make this Cream Cheese Pumpkin Bread. It was a sacrifice I was willing to make. Enjoy this quick sweet bread … Continue reading Cream Cheese Pumpkin Bread

Salsa Verde Casserole

It’s been a busy few weeks since opening my Etsy shop (if you haven’t already checked it out, you can find the Hello Homebody Etsy shop here). I’ve been attempting to fill orders, create new items for the shop, and keep up with recipe planning and blogging. My goal is to create a good schedule so that I’m not jumping from project to project all day long, but I haven’t found that happy balance of organization quite yet. In the middle of my scattered-ness, I’ve been falling back on our favorite dishes for dinner, simple recipes that I know by … Continue reading Salsa Verde Casserole

Fancy Grilled Cheese // Blueberry Cream Cheese

I love savory grilled cheese sandwiches, but I decided to try to come up with a sweet variety this time! I figured that cream cheese was a perfect option, what isn’t cream cheese good with?!? I used blueberries that I already had on hand, but you can be creative with the fruit that you use (strawberries would be great with the cream cheese filling!). Serve up this sweet grilled cheese sandwich for breakfast or as a snack! Needed: bread (sliced) blueberries 2 oz cream cheese 1/8 cup powdered sugar 1/2 tsp vanilla butter Pop the cream cheese into the microwave … Continue reading Fancy Grilled Cheese // Blueberry Cream Cheese

Fancy Grilled Cheese // Jalapeno Popper

We love grilled cheese sandwiches around here. Gourmet grilled cheeses are a popular food trend right now, and I’m all about it! This is my first in a set of good ol’ grilled cheese sandwich recipes with a twist. Jalapeno Popper Grilled Cheese                                Needed: french bread bacon cheddar cheese cream cheese jalapeno butter Turn oven broiler on to high. While bacon is cooking (with whatever method you prefer), slice bread and cut jalapeños in half (remove seeds).
