Blueberry Banana Oat Smoothie

With the new year, I’ve decided to try to eat breakfast more often and also eat more fresh fruit. Why not do both at the same time? Smoothies are a great way to do just that! I’ve been noticing the trend of adding oats to smoothies, I was intrigued and had to give it a try. I really liked the addition! It gives smoothies sort of a doughy taste, in a really good way. If you know me well at all, you know that I really dislike bananas, but they give a great texture to smoothies and, when blended with … Continue reading Blueberry Banana Oat Smoothie

Gorilla Bread

Gorilla Bread is pretty similar to monkey bread, but each pull-apart piece is filled with a special ingredient… cream cheese! This delicious pastry has a caramelized cinnamon/sugar outside with a soft cream cheese center. It’s a simple recipe that takes only about 10 minutes to put together, making it a great Christmas morning breakfast (or after-dinner treat)! Note: I made half of this recipe and placed it into a large loaf pan. Use two loaf pans or a bundt pan if making the whole recipe. This is an adaption of Paula Deen’s recipe. Cherry Turnover Pastries

These Cherry Turnovers have a flaky pastry outside with a warm cherry pie filling (and a sweet glaze!). They are a festive treat for the holidays… these turnovers are just as quick as opening a tube of cinnamon rolls, making them perfect for breakfast or dessert! This is one of those recipes that is so simple that you almost don’t need a recipe. I got my inspiration for these from the Pillsbury’s cherry turnover kits that I loved when I was growing up. I haven’t been able to find them anymore so I decided to make my own simple version. Try … Continue reading Cherry Turnover Pastries

Pumpkin Spice French Toast

It’s that time of the year, pumpkin spice everywhere! I love french toast and I really wanted to try a pumpkin version for Fall. This was my first attempt and I love how it turned out. So simple and perfect for cool mornings! This french toast is a perfect way to get your pumpkin spice fix without baking all afternoon or making a trip to Starbucks. If you’re a fan of french toast (and all things pumpkin) then this is the recipe for you! Cream Cheese Pumpkin Bread

Fall is coming! I am absolutely in love with this season! I’ve already been overwhelming my husband with Autumn candle scents, and talk of pumpkins and Fall decor. I can hardly wait for cooler and cozy weather after the nearly unbearable Texas summer heat. In fact, the first couple of days of September were some of our hottest yet this year. In spite of the 105º+ temperatures, I turned on the oven and heated up the house in order to make this Cream Cheese Pumpkin Bread. It was a sacrifice I was willing to make. Enjoy this quick sweet bread … Continue reading Cream Cheese Pumpkin Bread

Pineapple Mango Smoothie

I love smoothies! You can toss just about any combination of fruit into a blender and turn it into a refreshing treat. Smoothies are a quick breakfast option or a delicious morning or afternoon snack. I love the tropical sweetness from the pineapple and mangos in this smoothie, it’s easy to forget that this drink is actually healthy! I used frozen pineapple chunks for this recipe to get the icy coldness of a smoothie without adding ice. I’m a little addicted to vanilla almond milk, but you could use the unsweetened kind or regular milk instead! Pineapple Mango Smoothie 1 … Continue reading Pineapple Mango Smoothie

Vanilla Bean Scones

This scone recipe is one that I love to fall back on when I’m craving something sweet at night! I’ve made these vanilla bean scones so many times, it’s quick and simple (as far as baking goes)! I wrote down the recipe years ago when I was looking for a copycat recipe for Starbucks’ mini vanilla scones… these scones don’t exactly look like Starbucks’ but they do have a similar taste, and they’re much fresher! Vanilla Bean Scones                     2 dozen mini scones Needed: 2 cups flour 1/2 cup sugar 2 tsp baking … Continue reading Vanilla Bean Scones

Fancy Grilled Cheese // Blueberry Cream Cheese

I love savory grilled cheese sandwiches, but I decided to try to come up with a sweet variety this time! I figured that cream cheese was a perfect option, what isn’t cream cheese good with?!? I used blueberries that I already had on hand, but you can be creative with the fruit that you use (strawberries would be great with the cream cheese filling!). Serve up this sweet grilled cheese sandwich for breakfast or as a snack! Needed: bread (sliced) blueberries 2 oz cream cheese 1/8 cup powdered sugar 1/2 tsp vanilla butter Pop the cream cheese into the microwave … Continue reading Fancy Grilled Cheese // Blueberry Cream Cheese

Homemade Glazed Doughnuts

This is such an easy recipe (maybe too easy!). I only make these once in a while, but they turn out perfectly every time! Technically they aren’t 100% homemade, with the use of canned biscuits and all, but they’re so good and don’t at all resemble biscuits when you’re done. If you don’t want to take the time to make a glaze, try tossing the warm donuts in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar! Doughnuts Canola Oil Canned Biscuits (any kind except flaky layers which will absorb too much oil) Use a small round cookie or biscuit cutter to cut … Continue reading Homemade Glazed Doughnuts
