I absolutely love the dip-dyed/ombre look! Recently I’ve been looking for projects that feature this trend. I came across this easy technique and used it to upcycle extra white candles that I had around the house. This is a thrifty way to add a pop of color to a party or wedding… buy plain candles in bulk and dye them to match any decor!

Needed:

• white candles (pillar, taper, or votive)
• old candle wax or scentsy bars
• crayons (for dyeing white candle wax)
• can or glass jar
• wooden stirrer

Separate old candles or scentsy bars by color (I used a mixture of pink and red). If you’re working with leftover white candle wax, choose a crayon to dye the wax. Place chunks of wax (along with bits of crayon, if needed) into a glass jar or can.

Fill a small saucepan with several inches of water. Place can of wax into saucepan. Warm over a burner on low heat. Gently stir wax as it melts (be careful not to get any water into the wax).

When wax has fully melted, remove can from saucepan (be cautious, it’ll be hot!). Take a candle and dip halfway into the wax (dip quickly to achieve a very light layer of wax), this will be the lightest level. Continue this process, dipping less of the candle in each time. Place finished candles on a piece of parchment paper to dry.

The best part about this project? I didn’t have to buy a thing for it! This is a great way to recycle extra candles into a fresh accessory for your home!
